Poetry reading and writing online group

Are you interested in attending an online bi-monthly poetry reading and writing group focused on fertility treatment? If so, get in touch with the project organiser Carrie Smith - smithc47@cardiff.ac.uk

Participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable, camera on or off. Each session we will read and talk about a poem about fertility treatment and think about writing our own if we wish. It is okay if you just wish to participate in the reading element.

Free Online Poetry Writing Workshop - 6:30-8pm, Monday 21st July, 2025

As part of the project we ran a free online poetry writing workshop focused on fertility treatment for anyone currently having fertility treatment, or anyone who had had treatment in the past, or was the partner of someone having treatment. We defined fertility treatment broadly, including people who have frozen their eggs, undergoing investigation for infertility, as well as those having IUI, IVF, and related treatments and so on. No creative writing experience was necessary to take part in the workshop. The session was led by Kat François. Kat has written poetry about her experiences with IVF and adenomyosis. She has also made programmes for the BBC on these topics. For more information email Carrie Smith - smithc47@cardiff.ac.uk

This workshop was supported by Cardiff University.
